Born and raised on the West Coast of BC, Christian was raised with a deeply rooted appreciation for his natural surroundings. He spent hours sketching as a young boy and attended the Visual Arts program at UVic, ultimately switching to a Biology Major and graduating with a BSc. For most of his adult life he did not pick up a paintbrush, instead spending many years as a biologist, consultant, adventure guide and expedition leader from the Arctic to the Antarctic. About 15 years ago, he picked up the paintbrush once more and immediately fell in love all over again. His inspiration comes from the nature, landscape and seascapes of the beautiful coast of BC. As subject matter, Christian most often returns to the endless images of wildlife that he has collected in his mind from a lifetime of living and working on the ocean and around Vancouver Island.
