The flamboyant and kaleidescopic art of Jana Aspeling in Johannesburg South Africa evokes feelings of wonderment, joy of nature and an appreciation for the fine details of animals and nature. Some of her first memories as a small girl were her absolute obsession to create, but also her attraction to colour, patterns and finding the esthetics of little hidden objects that surround us every day. She studied Graphic Design and completed a BA in Fine Arts at the University of Stellenbosch SA, specializing in print making and painting. For many years she owned an upscale hair salon in Parkhurst, SA before returning to her calling and picking up her paintbrushes in 2017. During Covid she made the decision to become a full time artist and has not looked back, pouring her heart and soul into the rainbow of flora, fauna and sealife that fills her canvases. A self proclaimed "reborn artist" she feels she has finally found her purpose and inner voice as an artist immortalizing the beauty, perfection and joy of nature on her canvases.
